Ingredients
Black Tea
The ingredient
Black tea leaves are dark brown to black, rolled or cut, and oxidized, which gives them a robust, astringent flavor that can vary from malty to fruity depending on the type. It is the basis for many tea blends like Earl Grey and English Breakfast, and contains antioxidants that may support heart health.
The benefits
Black tea, being stimulating and warming, is used in Ayurveda to balance kapha (earth and water) and, in moderation, vata (air and space) doshas (energies or substances). It is believed to enhance digestive “fire” and reduce water retention. Some research studies have supported possible benefits of tea including:
- Linked to longevity
- May promotes cardiovascular health
- May promote a healthy gut microbiome
