Basmati rice is a long-grain, aromatic rice known for its fluffy texture and nutty flavor when cooked. It is traditionally grown in the Indian subcontinent. Basmati rice grains elongate significantly when cooked but remain non-sticky.
The benefits
According to Ayurvedic practice, basmati rice is highly valued for its ability to balance all three doshas (energies or substances), particularly vata (air and space) and pitta (fire and water), due to its sweet taste and “cooling” effect. Some research studies have supported possible benefits of basmati rice including:
